Best Cardigan Sweater for Your Body Shape

Every woman should have a cardigan sweater in her wardrobe, especially in the winter months. These sweaters are the go to clothing when you want to add layers to your outfit. Also, they can easily be dressed up or dressed down in anyway you prefer. However, finding the right cardigan sweater for your body shape can be challenge if you don’t know what to look for.

Wide Shoulders

If your shoulders are wide you should stay away from scoop neck, boatneck, and epaulets style cardigans because they’ll make your broad shoulders look wider.

Go with cardigans that take attention away from your shoulders. Sweaters that have embellishments such as a ruffled placket sweater will do the trick. Also, a thin, body skimming knit that clings to the waist or your hips will help because it creates a curvy shape instead of a blocky figure.

Big Bust

If your bust is big then going with a V neck cardigan will do you justice. The diagonal lines of the V-neck will create a slimming effect for the rest of your body.

Stay away from dolman or wide sleeves because they blend in with the chest, which will make you appear larger than you want at the top. Also, avoid wearing chunky knits and crew necks.

Big Hips

If you’ve got big hips then you need a sweater that comes right below or above the hips, not at the areas that are the widest. If you are looking for a long sweater you should choose a draped style that has a rounded or asymmetrical hem. Stay away from straight line hems that cut across the thighs. Also, avoid cropped cardigans that’ll make your hips look wider than they actually are.

Large Stomach

You need a cardigan sweater that has a length that’ll completely cover up your stomach. Instead of wearing cardigans with a blouson shape go with a straight cut boyfriend style that will complement your body better.

Stay away from any cardigan that’ll draw attention to your midsection such as ones that have a belt.  Instead of wearing a cardigan with a belt go with a ribbon instead. Tie the ribbon around the slimmest area of your waist and then clip the ends to the length you want. This will create a much more slimming effect than a belt will.

Cardigans are definitely a must have fashion piece to have in your wardrobe. However, if you don’t know how to wear it with your shape it won’t do you any good. Take advantage of these tips so you can get the most out of your cardigan sweater.
